7 Weird Facts About Human Body

Assalamualaikum. For this entry, i put around 7 weird facts about human body which is the thing that i think it was weird. Please be pleased for the replenishment of my choice ;P

Nerve impulses to and from the brain travel as fast as 170 miles per hour. Ever wonder how you can react so fast to things around you or why that stubbed toe hurts right away? It’s due to the super-speedy movement of nerve impulses from your brain to the rest of your body and vice versa, bringing reactions at the speed of a high powered luxury sports car.

The human brain cell can hold 5 times as much information as the Encyclopedia Britannica. Or any other encyclopedia for that matter. Scientists have yet to settle on a definitive amount, but the storage capacity of the brain in electronic terms is thought to be between 3 or even 1,000 terabytes. The National Archives of Britain, containing over 900 years of history, only takes up 70 terabytes, making your brain’s memory power pretty darn impressive.

There are as many hairs per square inch on your body as a chimpanzee. Humans are not quite the naked apes that we’re made out to be. We have lots of hair, but on most of us it’s not obvious as a majority of the hairs are too fine or light to be seen.

Women blink twice as many times as men do. That’s a lot of blinking every day. The average person, man or woman, blinks about 13 times a minute.

Over 90% of diseases are caused or complicated by stress. That high stress job you have could be doing more than just wearing you down each day. It could also be increasing your chances of having a variety of serious medical conditions like depression, high blood pressure and heart disease.

Three hundred million cells die in the human body every minute. While that sounds like a lot, it’s really just a small fraction of the cells that are in the human body. Estimates have placed the total number of cells in the body at 10-50 trillion so you can afford to lose a few hundred million without a hitch.

Your ears secrete more earwax when you are afraid than when you aren’t. The chemicals and hormones released when you are afraid could be having unseen effects on your body in the form of earwax. Studies have suggested that fear causes the ears to produce more of the sticky substance, though the reasons are not yet clear.

5 Most Weird Facts About Some Animals In The World

Assalamualaikum. This entry is about the weird facts of some animals in this world. This weird facts seems to be not really logic but don't judge it by its weirdness as the scientists have already make a research about them !

Young Panda

As if pandas weren't already the most adorable creatures in the world! Though this one comes with the added benefit of not being physically able to bite your head off. Always a good quality when choosing a companion.

Female Ferret

A female ferret will die if it goes into heat and cannot find a mate. Question: What's worse than going out on a date with somebody, realizing it's not going to work out, and ending the date by breaking it off with them? Answer: Being a female ferret in the exact same situation. Poor gals. *sigh* *sigh* *sigh*

Jellyfish

One species of jellyfish can revert back to it's child stage after becoming sexually mature, effectively making it immortal. It's called the Turritopsis nutricula, and it achieves this through the cell development process of transdifferentiation, which you can look up on your own time. Before you even ask, yes, scientists are studying the jellyfish as we speak, though who can say what will come of it.

Blue Whale

A blue whale weighs as much as three elephants and is as long as three Greyhound buses. This is a good perspective fact, because if you were anything like our ignorant selves, you always sort of figured elephants and whales were about the same size. Not so, dear readers, not so at all. Whales are absolutely MASSIVE.

Dolphin

Only half of a dolphin's brain sleeps at a time. The other half makes sure it comes up for water so it doesn't drown. For real though, this probably would have been a useful skill during college if we could've had half of our brain write a paper while the other half slept.

5 Weird Animals All Around The World

Assalamualaikum. So, this time i will show you the 5 most weird animals i've ever seen. #just look at the title itself, it's different with the older and upcoming post. hihi

Komondor Dog

Its long, thick, strikingly corded white coat (the heaviest amount of fur in the canine world) resembles dreadlocks or a mop. The puppy coat is soft and fluffy. However, the coat is wavy and tends to curl as the puppy matures. A fully mature coat is formed naturally from the soft undercoat and the coarser outer coat combining to form tassels, or cords. Some help is needed in separating the cords so the dog does not turn into one large matted mess. The length of the cords increases with time as the coat grows. Shedding is very minimal with this breed, contrary to what one might think (once cords are fully formed). The only substantial shedding occurs as a puppy before the dreadlocks fully form. The Komondor is born with only a white coat, unlike the similar-looking Puli, which is usually white, black or sometimes grayish. However, a working Komondor's coat may be discolored by the elements, and may appear off-white if not washed regularly.

Angora Rabbit

The Angora rabbit is a variety of domestic rabbit bred for its long, soft hair. The Angora is one of the oldest types of domestic rabbit, originating in Ankara, Turkey, along with the Angora cat and Angora goat. The rabbits were popular pets with French royalty in the mid 1700s, and spread to other parts of Europe by the end of the century. They first appeared in the United States in the early 1900s. They are bred largely for their long wool, which may be removed by shearing or plucking (gently pulling loose wool).
There are many individual breeds of Angora rabbits, four of which are ARBA recognized. Such breeds include, French, German, Giant, English, Satin, Chinese, Swiss, Finnish and a few more.

White-faced Saki Monkey

The White-faced Saki (Pithecia pithecia), also known as the Guianan Saki and the Golden-faced Saki, is a species of saki monkey, a type of New World monkey, found in Brazil, French Guiana, Guyana, Suriname, and Venezuela. This monkey mostly feed on fruits, but also nuts, seeds, and insects.

Alpaca

The Alpaca (Vicugna pacos) is a domesticated species of South American camelid developed from the wild alpacas. It resembles a sheep in appearance, but is larger and has a long erect neck as well as coming in many colors, whereas sheep are generally bred to be white and black.Alpacas are considerably smaller than llamas, and unlike them are not used as beasts of burden but are valued only for their fiber. Alpacas only have fleece fibers, not woolen fibers, used for making knitted and woven items much as sheeps wool is. These items include blankets, sweaters, hats, gloves, scarves, a wide variety of textiles and ponchos in South America, and sweaters, socks and coats in other parts of the world. The fiber comes in more than 52 natural colors as classified in Peru, 12 as classified in Australia and 22 as classified in America.

Yeti Crab

Kiwa hirsuta is a crustacean discovered in 2005 in the South Pacific Ocean. This decapod, which is approximately 15 cm (6 inches) long, is notable for the quantity of silky blond setae (resembling fur) covering its pereiopods (thoracic legs, including claws). Its discoverers dubbed it the "yeti lobster" or "yeti crab". It was found 1,500 km (900 miles) south of Easter Island in the South Pacific, at a depth of 2,200 m (7,200 feet), living on hydrothermal vents along the Pacific-Antarctic Ridge. Based on both morphology and molecular data, the species was deemed to form a new genus and family (Kiwaidae). The animal has strongly reduced eyes that lack pigment, and is thought to be blind. The 'hairy' pincers contain filamentous bacteria, which the creature may use to detoxify poisonous minerals from the water emitted by the hydrothermal vents where it lives. Alternatively, it may feed on the bacteria, although it is thought to be a general carnivore. Its diet also consists of green algae and small shrimp.

5 Weird Tree - Some of them are categorized as endangered plant -

Rainbow Eucalyptus

The Rainbow Eucalyptus is a tree with bark so brightly colored that it is almost hard to believe that it is not an elaborate practical joke. This tree, native to the Philippines, sheds the outer layer of its bark often to expose new, green bark underneath. As the bark ages it goes through several color changes from green, to blue, to purple, to orange, and finally to brown before being shed. Because the bark is shed in irregular patches the tree displays a collection of all these colors at once giving a kaleidoscopic effect. They can be grown in many places which will not experience frosts but in the Philippines they are mostly cultivated for use in paper manufacture and not as decorative trees.

Welwitschia Mirabilis

This odd plant stumped taxonomists for years. A desert plant found in South Africa, the thick welwitschia mirabilis generally possesses only two leaves, but these leaves curl and tangle as the plant grows (it often lives over 1,000 years) and becomes a jumbled, tough mass spanning 6 feet or more.

Dragon Blood Tree

The Socotra Archipelago in the Indian Ocean, off the coast of Somalia, is home to the Dragon Blood tree. The Dragon Blood tree is unusual for a number of reasons. Its trunk is bare and branches only at the top, ending in sharp spiky leaves. This unusual appearance is due to the Dragon Blood tree belonging to the monocotyledons, the same group of plants as grasses, rather than dicotyledons, which are more common amongst trees. As well as an unusual exterior, the trees also reveal an unusual interior; once pierced bright red sap oozes out. The crimson sap, called Dragon Blood, is dried and then used as a medicine or a dye. While the inhabitants of Socotra still use it as a panacea, the sap is mostly used in the West as a red varnish for violins.

Titan Arum

The titan arum or amorphophallus titanum (basically, titanic penis) is not the world’s biggest flower, but it does have the world’s biggest inflorescence. Like the rafflesia, it also grows in Sumatra and also is called the corpse flower after its notoriously rotten stench.

Baseball Plant

This incredibly popular house plant is virtually extinct in the wild due to habitat destruction and the botanical equivalent of poaching. Its sap is poisonous, but it does make an attractive yard ornament. Unfortunately humans have not balanced their desire to grow the baseball plant in their gardens with the need to preserve natural populations of the plant.

5 Weird Phobias - For me, it's weird but maybe for some of you, it's not -

A phobia is an intense and irrational fear of a given situation, organism, or object.

Triskaidekaphobia: fear of the number 13

One of the most common fears, but still senseless, even Adolf Hitler was triskaidekaphobic. There a specific fear of Friday the 13th as well, called paraskavedekatriaphobia. Tetraphobia is the fear of the number 4, more popular in China, Japan, and Korea.

Scopophobia: fear of being looked at

Feeling an intense and irrational fear of being looked at or stared at, Scopophobics tend to avoid large public places such as shopping malls and other large gatherings of people. Even simple tasks like driving a car can be very difficult, as the sufferer will experience an acute sense of fear and uneasiness as they irrationally perceive others are staring at them, either from the cars beside them, or from the cars in front or back of them in their rear-view mirrors.
Rhabdophobia

The fear of wands, rod or switch as an instrument of punishment. Rhabdophobia is another good reason to avoid Harry Potter movies. But some resource stated that this phobia is about someone who fear of magic.

Hippopotomonstrosesquippedaliophobia

Hippopotomonstrosesquipedaliophobia. So let’s say you do have this phobia. You’d be terrify to name your ailment. Kind of a conundrum. However, the fear of long words may have the most ironic (and cruelest name).

Didaskaleinophobia

Didaskaleinophobia actually feel intense and continuous anxiety at the thought of attending class every day.Children who possess this phobia can be bullied, suffer from learning disability, feel academically pressured (especially around exam time) or are even too bright and find it hard to stay engaged with the curriculum and their peers. This phobia can cause intense anxiety, heart palpitation, nausea, and above all, profound and all-consuming depression. Incidentally, it can also induce suicidal thoughts.

5 Weird Sea Creatures

Axolotl

Axolotls are like the cute anime pet you never had but always wanted, because you saw it on a deck of Pokémon cards. Tack onto that the ability to completely regenerate any dangling limb, and you've got yourself a real live Tamigachi! Another cool thing about axolotls is that they stay in their larval state even into adulthood, when they start becoming sexually mature—talk about babies having babies! Maury Povitch would have a field day with these weird sea creatures. Which of course, only makes them weirder.

Leafy Sea Dragon

The Leafy Sea Dragon is one of the few sea creatures with its own built-in camouflage. The tiny fins that are used to propel our leafy friend forward are impossible to see, giving the illusion that you are merely watching some seaweed lazily float by (like an underwater plastic bag à laAmerican Beauty). So the next time you see a chunk of seaweed, notice the beauty of it, yes. But also notice that you may just be witnessing one of the weirdest sea creatures in the world.

Red-Lipped Batfish

This photogenic fish has red lips and fins made for walking the seafloor near the Galápagos Islands. The red-lipped batfish is one of some 60 species of batfishes, “flattened” from life on the seafloor and adapted to walk on modified pectoral and pelvic fins. Like other anglerfishes, batfishes also use a built-in fishing rod snout, equipped with a retractable appendage, to lure prey close to their lips—which, by the way, appear far less conspicuous without a photographer’s flash.

Christmas Tree Worm

Scientists found this strange creature at the Great Barrier Reef's Lizard Island and named it, aptly, the Christmas tree worm. One better might have been "fake plastic Christmas tree worm," but it's still a pretty good name. (Scientists also refer to it as Spirobranchus giganteus). The spiral "branches" are actually the worm's breathing and feeding apparatus. The worm itself lives in a tube, and it can withdraw its tree-like crowns if threatened.

Sea Cucumber

A sea cucumber floats in the waters of Bikini Atoll, once home to a series of infamous nuclear bomb tests. These echinoderms can grow to 6.5 feet (two meters) by feeding on tiny aquatic animals, algae, and even waste material. Sea cucumbers recycle food particles into fodder for bacteria much like worms do in soil. Though they are fairly simple animals, sea cucumbers do have one incredible defense mechanism—the ability to eject internal organs out of their anus and regenerate them later.

5 Extremely Bizarre Medical Disorder

Dystonia

dystonia

A rare disorder, individuals suffer abrupt twisting motions whenever their muscles sustain any contraction. The most well-publicised case in recent history involved that of Deseree Jennings, the 25 year old girl who was aspiring to be a professional football cheerleader when she acquired the disease from a flu shot. Although she can’t walk forwards, stand in one spot, or talk normally while doing either of the two, she can walk backwards and even run during which her convulsions and strained speech temporarily revert to normal

Tree Bark Skin

Tree Bark Skin

Known as Epidermodysplasia Verruciformis, this hereditary skin disorder is caused by HPV (human papilloma virus) and causes wart-like growths on your skin to spread out of control. One of the worst cases on record is that of Dede Koswara from Indonesia. He recently had 95% of his warts removed but within the year almost all of them had grown back.

Blue Skin Disorder

blue skin disorder

As a result of something called methemoglobinemia, which causes decreased blood oxygen levels, some people develop a very deep bluish tint to their skin. The cause of this hereditary disorder was recently discovered, however, and those who it afflicted have since received treatment, their skin reverting back to normal.

Progeria

Wrinkles, baldness, missing teeth…stick around long enough and you’re sure to have your fill. While old age happens eventually, to children affected by Progeria all of those symptoms we dread manifest themselves before the age of two. Unfortunately, although mentally they are still their age, many of these children develop the illnesses typically associated with the elderly such as cardiovascular disease and arthritis. Rarely do they live to be older than twelve or thirteen.

Human Werewolf Syndrome

You may have some hairy friends, but not like this. Formally known as hypertrichosis, there are only about 50 people in the world afflicted with this rare disorder. Unfortunately for them not even laser hair removal is an effective treatment as the hair will rapidly grow back.
